Why is it advised to check your ascendants daily/monthly horoscope?

My guess, so that people will come to realise that the sun sign alone doesn't make up your personality.

But a better reason would probably be because the rising sign is the first thing and the last thing people recognise in you. You behave more towards your rising sign so there is a bigger chance that the daily horoscopes corresponding to your rising sign would be more accurate for you. Just a guess, of course.
