after the gloves are removed the referee checks the hands front and back? what is he looking for?

  1. He's checking for any foreign object that would have given that fighter an unfair advantage. At which point if he does find something the offending fighter is disqualified.

  3. The referee is checking to see if the hands were wrapped properly. In some states the boxers hands are stamped by officials before the gloves are put on, and the ref is checking to make sure the stamp is still present on the boxers wraps
