Why is it antenna is not supported in TIvo series 2 DVR?

Analog antenna reception is supported in the older single tuner series 2. I have one set up this way.

When the dual tuner model came along Tivo run into a problem with government requirements. After a certain date if they put in an analog over the air tuner they would be required to put in a digital ATSC tuner as well. Rather than add the ATSC tuner they just changed the analog tuner to cable only.

One odd thing. Tivo has announced that they will support some digital over the air converter boxes for the single tuner series 2. They say they will not support them for the dual tuner model.
