  1. If the cat looses slower it will stay off.

    just like in humans.

get him to exercise more... by playing with a fishing type toy... make him run.

  2. nothing is wrong wit dat

  3. depends on the cat. my cat is big boned, large frame. 12 pounds is just right for him. but after neutering he bot to be 20 pounds and was sluggish and lazy. on a special diet food, he was back to 12 piunds in 3 months and felt great, running and playing again. vet advice for a diet is best. because various size cats have different normal weight.

  4. Because a pound is a very large increment for a animal the size of a domestic cat. Also, cats have very sensitive systems. Losing that much weight so quickly can throw the liver off or kidneys.

  5. i think it is hard on their system, like their heart and stuff...their body needs time to adjust to the changes.

  6. Well, one pound sounds like nothing to us humans because most of us eat more than a pound of food a day. Think about it like this. Most cats have an average weight of 10 pounds, so if it loses 1 pound, that means in one month, it lost 10% of its body weight.

Lets take those numbers and apply it to a human, with the same numbers, if someone weighed 150lbs, and lost the same amount (10%), that would mean that that person lost 15 pounds in one month. That is a lot. Unless you are on drugs, or starving yourself, your body should lose no more than 5 pounds a month.

Going back to cats, can you see now the human equivalent of the weight the cat would lose? Its too much and means that your cat is not healthy.

  7. Fast weight loss in cats can cause Feline Hepatic Lipidosis, which damages the liver.
