i'm not planning on doing it, i don't even have rubber bands. but i just heard about this.

  1. because , depending on how your ortho wants you to wear them, wearing just one single band can put a heck of alot of pressure on your teeth/brackets/wires with just wearing one single band. doubling it is just creating way too much pressure!

that could cause damage to your braces..

also, if you dont wear your elastics for a long time , then try to "catch up" by doubling up elastics, well you may end up overshooting and jsut causing more problems because there are twice the bands there. also, if if you doubt up cause you want to catch up on wearing your elastics, well it jsut isnt good to be so inconsistent with how you wear them.

all of this will cause a longer treatment time!!!

also, its jsut plain and simple: your ortho didnt tell you to. he/shes the expert. you arent. do what your told to do!!!

i have alot of experience wearing them, but i never ever doubled them.
