Why is it bad to have a bunch of scratches on ur snowboard base?

  1. increases friction, bad. to decrease friction, get your board hot waxed.


  2. it can mess up your steering for one, if the scratches are deep enough they will cut into the snow and throw you off

    and if they are deep enough to they can make a board crack and warp, which leads to more problems

    plus it just makes your board look shoddy

  3. Minor scratches in the wax or in the base don't really hurt anything except adding a little bit of friction - which isn't always a bad thing if you don't want to go really fast.

    Major scratches deep into the base will make your board track wierd when you are trying to go straight and will add a LOT of friction.

  4. they can slow you down but usually alot of wax can temporarily fill in those scratches
