  1. To keep the rest of our jobs, from going "overseas." <}:-{(

  2. As soon as American-based automobile companies make cars that are on par with the quality of most Japanese and some European models, I'd be happy to consider purchasing them.

  3. I don't think there's any benefit to the purchaser, nor as some answers have already pointed out - is there much of a difference in the product origin- It's mostly tired propaganda.

If we don't want jobs "overseas" maybe we could try not supporting politicians who are making it easier and easier to ship those jobs overseas (oh gee, like the current President?).  Maybe we could be willing to pay more for American goods produced by union labor.

Gasp!!! Union Labor!?!?!?! Did he say that?  Why, that's flat out Communist...

  4. I am a GM guy from day 1. Don’t get me wrong I also like Toyota and Honda but I have always been able to find the BEST deal on a car I like from GM. There quality is much much better than it used to be and they do make great products. For example the Corvette is an amazing machine and usually other sports cars compared to it. At as little as 44k the corvette is also compared to European sports car literally 10x its cost. And the Corvette with as much as 500 HP gets an amazing  28 MPH

In addition all GM vehicles run on alternative fuels and I believe all of their vehicles made since around 1997 have. GM is leading the way on alternative fuels and making them a reality here is America.

The one thing that really makes me upset and makes my loyalty waiver is their sending American jobs to Mexico while Toyota builds in Tennessee. WTF is that all about!!  Other companies and industries do this too and that is wrong, but I want my car build in America!!

Our Government is at the core of the problem and without going into detail the government should be protecting American jobs and not promoting the out sourcing of jobs to other countries. They outsource because this country is run buy business owners and making a dollar is more important than you.

  5. NOT anymore.  The foreign auto makers employ approximately as many Americans as do American auto makers.  "Union Negotiators" can no longer make the claim, "support American workers, BUY American", because Americans do support other Americans now buying foreign because of "foreign makers" plants here in the U.S.

For years now, GM, Ford, Chrysler, mutually operate with Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Honda.  For instance, Saturn now has Honda engines and transmissions as do other models, Ford uses Mazda.  American auto makers were great with the "performance/muscle" cars but could never seem to get the smaller, V-6 or 4 cylinders, to produce lower gas consumption with "power and performance".  This, by the way, comes from my uncle, "retired GM V.P.", Atlanta.  What did American auto makers do to "keep from losing their shirts", you guessed it, went to the source for smaller engines with power, JAPAN.  This has been a GREAT move on behalf of American makers since 1980's, possibly saving GM, and especially FORD, from "going out of business".

The benefit to buy American is how you look at it.  "Foreign" makers building in the states "recover" some of the profits and, I know, back to Japan.  On the other hand, Americans need to support Americans, and Americans are employed, financially doing well, maintain families, benefits, etc. working, both for U.S. auto makers and "foreign" as well.  You may see soon this bumper sticker, "Support America, Buy Toyota".

My cousin is employed by GM working as a "Robotics Tech" for GM, Doraville, GA.  The plant is scheduled to "shut down" in a couple of months.  He has 24 years with GM, going to take his "substantial" retirement, but because he is not ready to stop working, guess where he is going, to a "Toyota" plant.  Think about that, and "kind of funny" in a way, a retired GM employee drawing his GM pention working for Toyota.  YES, we need to support Americans for an improved economy.

    Good Luck, stay positive.

  6. To keep other Americans working, so they can buy the products that your company produces so you can keep your job.

The Japanese, especially Toyota, are dumping cars on the market for less than it costs to produce them.  The Japanese tax payers make up the difference.

This predatory marketing practices are being used to unfairly drive the domestic males out of business.

Our government should be complaining to the World Trade Organization about this as it is illegal.  contact your congressman.

You won't hear about this on the news because Toyota pays lots of money in advertising.  The networks won't bite the hand that feeds them.

  7. I don't see why especially buy a US brand. Buy the one that uses the less gasoline, US brand or not, (good for the environment and for your purse).

  8. Becasue it supports the workers who build the cars. Anymore though it seems more foreign cars are built in the us. I buy GM becasue my Dad worked for them and I get a family discount.

  9. Hello,

Benefits are keeping are money right here in the USA. Why support that guy in Japan? His families belly is full while there are lines in the USA at the soup kitchen.

It does not make sense our military vehicles, planes and the such are being bought and paid for by American citizens from places such as France, just does not make sense!

Not only does that not make sense but exporting are raw material to other countries, have them make the parts from this raw material then buying the end results which are car parts etc.. then put them together here in the USA and call it American made is just plain dumb.

Americans ***** and moan about the pollution here, but it is ok to ship these materials over the boarder and let that country pollute .....

Americans need to wake up and realize if we are going to survive we have to quite giving and paying for other countries to do the work we can do right here. As it is now we are as breast feeding babies who need these other countries to survive which is just not right.

If American workers are making sub standard products we need to slap are neighbor up side the head instead of starving his family into the welfare line. Staving are neighbor is what we are doing when buying a vehicle imported from another country......
