Why is it better to eat wheat bread than white?

I check out the calories and nutritional info, and they are pretty much the same. the same goes for wheat vs. reg. pasta.

  1. White bread, rice, etc is stripped of its natural vitamins and fiber by being processed. Wheat bread is closest to how mother nature intedned, plus it has more natural vitamins and fiber. Plus, it tastes better anyways.


  2. It is good to eat whole wheat bread instead of white. I don't know why but I just wanted to tell you people who say it isn't are wrong.

  3. It's not "wheat" bread that's healthier than white; it "100% whole wheat" bread!

    Wheat bread is just white bread that's been colored brown, whereas 100% whole wheat bread contains the healthy part of the wheat and provides lots of healthy fiber that "wheat" and "white" don't have.

    When you are comparing nutritional information on bread, you are probably comparing "wheat" bread to white, and not "100% whole wheat." There is a significant difference in dietary fiber. (Probably zero per slice in the white and wheat, but 3 or 4 grams in the 100% whole wheat.)

  4. The flour used in commercial white bread has all of the bran removed and the bread dough has all sorts of dough softeners added as well as high fructose corn syrup and preservatives. Frankly, commercial wheat bread isn't much different except for a few grams of fiber from the whole wheat flour. Only the real European style artisan wheat bread is going to have a real difference in texture and flavor and health benefits. It's actually good for you, all that fiber cleans out your colon.

    Wheat bread if it even has any wheat has fibre and often it is brown because of molasses.  

    White bread has less fibre but sometimes more nutritional value because it has milk and eggs.  

    Look at the actual ingrediants and nutritional info to know what you are getting.

    Ok the person who says it is just because he has heard that has no info at all.  People saying wheat is better does not make it so.

    If the grains in the bread are fibre - they are fibre because they are undigestible - therefore adding no nutrient.

    umm in most breads Wheat is better for the Grains. Health food organic is the best, even in the Bible wheat is mentioned allot, and unleavened bread to as well. God Bless

  10. well its because they will keep you fuller longer and help you lose weight. Also they are HEALTHY for you, white bread is refined flour, while whole wheat is, whole wheat...
