You have probably saw the commercials for the free credit report service -

http:www.freecreditreport.com.

Catchy commercial yet guess what? The service is not free!

So why do they call it free?

  1. Same reason suckers buy drugs from unlicensed Internet pharmacies and same reason Republicans forward those anti-Obama lies... they don't think, don't read... ignorance is bliss.

If you listen to the ads it states "enrollment" required.

Anyone that has been denied credit can get a free copy of their report.

  2. I checked out their website.

Basically they are free as long as you cancel within 7 days of signing up.

I would say that it is a clever piece of marketing as they sucker you in with the promise of a free credit report and hope you forget to cancel.

  3. Elementary, they found out all the information for free.
