Why is it called a hamburger if its usually beef?

ok... so this question is pretty much just self explanatory... why? it makes no since!

  4. The word hamburger comes from Hamburg steak, which originated in the German city of Hamburg. Contrary to what folk etymology might lead one to believe, there is no actual 'ham' in a hamburger.  Hope this explains it!
