When homosexuals admit that they are g*y why is it called "coming out of the closet" ?

  4. cause they finally stopped hiding and finally admitted it. personally i think this phrase should be used by anyone hiding anything not just people who are g*y. like me im an atheist but have yet to come out of that closet and admit that i dont believe in god.
