  1. it's already been said but i just wanted 2 points.

Rugby the game is named after the town and the school it originated from

The Rugby School, Rugby in Warickshire, England

  2. It's because Rugby is the name of the town where the game originated.

  3. Its named after Rugby school in Warwickishire, that is the school where William Webb-Ellis supposedly invented Rugby. (The story goes they were having a nice game of soccer/football when good old Willy picked the ball up and went for a run, thus inventing Rugby as we know it)  Unfortunately it is now widely accepted that the whole William Webb-Ellis story is a yarn because at the time(1816-1825) there was no one rule for football, all the diffrent areas/schools basically had there own set of rules. However if you ever go there they have a plaque commemorating the mythical event and the Rugby World Cup trophy is still known as the William Webb-Ellis Trophy.

  4. Just visit the school in Rougby, Warwickshire. See the plaque on the wall opposite the spot where William Webb Ellis first picked up the ball & ran with it. Then you would not ask such questions.

  5. Yes every single rugby player in the world wears a toupee.  It has nothing to do with the town of Rugby where the game was invented.

  6. the name of the town in england, aslo the school

  7. it was founded in rugby

  8. Rugby is the name of the school where it first was played.
