For a lot of people, it is a race.  Scrambling to make more money than the next guy, achieve more fame, power and influence.  Read the news, it's gets pretty nasty sometimes.

if race is related to roots, then i guess if we are human we all belong to the same root system. looking at it as if it was a big tree, the trunk and roots are the same for all of us humans. the branches, small branches and leaves are how we are separated but share a common ancestry.

oftentimes i think people forget that we are all of the human race and focus on the arbitrary system of "races" among us as if each branch represents a sepearate set of roots. but the human race includes all of us coming from the same roots.

a race is any breeding group, so it really just means Breed  or

Subspecies.

would be more amusing if it meant we could win something !
