Well I live in Oregon and we just got a frost warning earliar this week, and today on the news I hear theres a 'heat' warning for the east coast.

Well last winter was very cold and its still cold here well into Spring, usually in the 60's at best.We have only gotten about 5 hot sunny days and the last one was in April.

WHY IS IT SO DARN COLD

  1. To quote Poe:  "'tis the wind and nothing more"

  2. Isn't it OBVIOUS.  Global Warming ! --- :)

  3. <<california is always hot...........clearly>>

what part of calif?  LA?  or Crescent city?

it was on the cool side her a week ago.

    normal now.

broke heat records a month ago.

    it's just weather, not climate.

  4. NO!!!! Not Global Warming!!!!     It has to do with the source region of that airmass...  warm dry air from Mexico,   will be hot and maritime tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico will be humid and warm.     Certain topographical effects are realized from adiabatic drying as cooler air descends downward from the top of a mountain.   This subsidence and relatively cooler air produce foehn winds.

This is all standard stuff.   Has nothing to do with GW,  per se.

  5. the people on the east coast are less religious ,many are one step away from h**l

,there is also a mega tsunami aimed in that direction

God loves the people on the west coast more ,decent church going people ,he is cool with them.

Where i  live it is 48 degrees centigrade in the shade ,we are having a record heat wave ,

I am in my shorts under a fan full blast in the middle of the night

    I wonder what that means????

  6. The real answer is the ocean currents.

The ocean currents rotate in a clockwise direction in the Atlantic and Pacific ocean. The water coming down on the west coast just came from the Arctic ocean. The water coming up on the east coast just came from the equator.

Ocean water is such an important part of the regional climate in the West coast. Complain about it as much as you like, but the ocean water is also responsible for warming Oregon a bit in the winter. You see, water conducts heat more easily than landmass.

That's why you see places like Kansas (where I grew up) located as far away from the ocean as possible get incredibly hot in the summer and incredibly cold in the winter. Places like Oregon and Washington (where I live now) are far more regulated because of the ocean water. That means, you have the ocean water to thank for the beautiful summers we get on the west coast!

  7. because of air pressure and the Earth's tilt

  8. depends on where you live. i live in CA and it's pretty warm over here.. mid-70's to the 80's. so.. it's just where you live. doesn't apply to all of the west coast.
