  1. Its an altitude thing, but its also cold in valleys too, makes you wonder why, so thats a good question, my poor brain is getting a work out today lol! :)

  2. The mountains are not hot even though the sun hits it first is due to the altitude of the mountains as the temp goes on decreasing as we move ahead in the altitude as the air are more sparse and they canoot retain heat, nd there are several other factors.

  3. Heat radiates from the molten core of the earth.  Mountain peaks are the furthest away.

  4. Atmospheric temperatures will go on decreasing with increase of heights. We know P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2. For a given volume, P1/T1 = P2/T2. i.e., P1/P2 = T1/T2. Let P1 & T1 are press & Temp @ ground & P2 & T2 are that of @ a higher altitude, if P2 is less than P1 then to maintain the ratio of P1/P2, T2 has to be less than T1. Hence the temperatures @ higher altitude places are lesser.

  5. The air is thinner at altitude and the snow reflects the UV/ infra red rays back up.

  6. for every 1m above the sea level there is a decrease of 6degreecelcius. and hence the mountains r colder than the ground level though sunrays hit them first

  7. It's due to air, pressure and gravity.

  8. Less air.
