I have seen questions where all the girls say how cute it is when a girl has a boys name, but one question (see below) asked about the name Chloe for a boy and all the answers said how terrible that is. Seems inconsistent to me, but maybe I'm just old fashioned. I can't imagine naming my precious little girl Jackhttp://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080814213934AAhua5f

Names like Charlie and Shawn ( And Devon, Andi, Jordan, Payton etc) are UNISEX names, meaning they are acceptable for both boys and girls. You shouldn't name a girl John or Thomas, or a boy Sophia or Alice.
Some names that were once strictly boys names, such as Madison and Ashley, are now thought of as feminine names. And why is it so often masculine names that carry over the gender line for use by females? Well, look at our society. A 100 years ago it was deemed "proper" for girls to wear dresses and stich and play with dolls, and never play sports or other activities that are reserved for boys. And you would never name a girl Shawn. Today, girls wear pants and play sports, but a guy would never never caught dead in a dress. Our culture changes, and names are just part of our culture.
