  1. Hopefully, you have never said this in front of the lad.  Kids change with time, just as you did.  He is what he is, and there is beauty in everyone.

You can think whatever you want, but the boy is still your husband's kin.  I suggest you keep it buttoned up inside.

    Have a little compasion!

  2. Because it's hurtful and uncalled for.  Anyone who would call a child "ugly", would have to be pretty ugly themselves on the inside.  Ugly on the inside is way, way, worse than ugly on the outside.

  3. It hurts the parents' feelings. It means they are ugly too.

  4. It is cruel and demeaning.

  5. Because it is on the top five of most powerful words to say. And think if u were a kid dont u think it would hurt inside for someone out of no where come up to u and say ur ugly? i didnt think so.....

  6. It looks like everyone here is quick to assume you say this to the child's face... which if that's the case that's definitely uncalled for. However if you mean thinking a child is ugly in general, I agree there are some pretty ugly babies and kids out there. I would just never say it to anyone. Some people are just huge kid lovers so they throw the "all children are beautiful" line at you. As long as you don't make a comment, there's nothing wrong with thinking it. We all have our own ideas of what's cute.

  7. Because that's rude. It makes a kid feel bad and causes confidence issues, which could lead to depression. Come on, now.

So what if he isn't a gorgeous boy? Someday, someone will look at him and find him to be the most beautiful boy on earth, and if you call him ugly, that moment will be ruined because he won't believe it. What is ugly to you is not ugly to everyone else. Him being "ugly" isn't hurting anyone, so let it be.

  8. Would you like to be called ugly? Most people wouldn't and that includes kids! If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

  9. Because when they become an adult, there will be many chances for them to be called ugly....and worse. Kids need to be able to have that cushion of simply being a kid; yes, you have to prepare them for the real world, but you do not have to bring it to them with harsh words-they will see plenty of that as adults in this society. :(
