  1. because they don't know the story in the true of it. maybe so they can't understand you or your in pain. in my opinion, you should confidence with a good listener who understand your story or to the same with you.

  2. i think nobody has any sympathy for something that is not happening to themselves.

  3. Ah, if only there was a way to let them feel what we are feeling if only for a minute!!!  Honestly, I think it's because they don't feel it that they can't imagine it being real therefore it must be in your head.  In April of 2007 I fell at work due to someone on the housekeeping staff mopping and not putting a wet floor sign up.  I worked in a hospital with a staff of over 300 people and there were only a few that believed I actually was in pain the others thought it was all in my head, boy were they surprised when after 2 months of physical therapy an MRI showed a herniated disc!

  4. Because it is not visible or tangible. They can not see/smell/touch/taste/hear the pain you are feeling so it is difficult for anyone to fully understand it.

When you can see a giant cut or bruise, you can empathize more because you have had a bruise or cut before, you know more or less how it feels, and you can visually see that injury on the other person.

It is very frustrating, especially for people with pain disorders like fibromyalgia. People, including doctors, aren't able to "see" the pain so it is often thought to be in the person's mind or imaginary. You just have to be an advocate for your health and not rely on other people's sympathy when you're feeling bad.

  5. each one of us has different pain tolerance that's why when you say you are in pain and you have low tolerance, they think you're a bit over acting for those who have high tolerance in pain.

what is painful to you may not be painful to them..

  6. I dont know but i am SICK of it, my mom has never really been in pain & she pisses me off! I have fibromyalgia but i am looked @ as a drug seeker. I couldnt even barely walk down the stairs & all i get is Ultram. I just wish people could spend one day in my situation! UGHH

  7. Because they are not experiencing it.  The medical world has gotten so out of control with everyone trying to get "diagnosed" with something that people become numb to the idea you're hurting.

  8. I think they just don't like seeing people they care about in pain so they try to diminish the severity of it (more for themselves) because they can't help you feel better.

  9. Because they have never been in your position and reall do not understand how serious pain can be.  I have serious back pain and have been told it was in my head and that comes from people that can not put themselves in your place.

  10. I don't know...I tend to do this with one of my friends but it is because she is always complaining about being in pain in one way or another. I guess since we are not feeling the other persons pain, how can we understand how bad it is.
