Question:

Why is it illegal to run over pedestrians sauntering in the crosswalk in obviously heavy traffic?

Not talking about seniors here, or people who limp. Motorists, you know what I mean. Perfectly young, healthy (esp. high-school kids!) whose oblivious self-absorption is inflicted on a world with somewhere to go. Or sometimes they're just plain obnoxious, belligerent or crazy [?--so, maybe getting run over by, say, a Hyundai or Kia would be okay therapy]. If they're going to take all day to cross the street, at least it could be in a wheelchair. Let's decriminalize it, and keep our country moving!

  1. Uhh...kids are gonna be kids.  Let them grow out of it.  And it will always be illegal to harm pedestrians.

  2. There's always similar situation in NY.

Even according to bus safety guide, "They not suppose to be cross in front of bus."

I remember from Bus Safety brochure,

    1. PLEASE DO NOT CROSS THE STREET WHERE PARKED CARS OBSTACLE VIEW OF ANY DRIVERS.

    2. PLEASE DO NOT CROSS IN FRONT OF BUS.

This happened on E 86th St between 2nd & 3rd Avs. Express bus ran over lady who was cutting across busy two-way street.

New York has many hit-and-run cases.

  3. Because for some stupid reason they think kids are precious.

  4. I to have noticed these high school aged kids acting like it is a struggle to cross the street. They are trying to look cool, I think, with their pants around their ankles and taking baby steps. Perhaps if they simply pulled their pants up, they could once again take fully human strides and depart the intersections faster.

YEAH, RIGHT!!! Maybe they will learn about Darwin the hard way.

  5. I so agree with this. If you're gonna cross a busy road at least act like you got somewhere to go. I also HATE when people cross the road diagonally so it takes them longer to get across.

  6. RIGHT ON!
