Why is it illegal to sell single cigarettes?

I am only aware of this because of some HBO mini-series. I think you should only be able to charge of the cost of an actual cigarette out of the box plus ten percent. It should be legal, but not to an extreme added cost to the consumer.

i would think tht it will be easier for ppl to  buy ciggerttes but then again it could be all abt making money for the govt and the compnaies

The government is some times the enemy of the people of the world because many things are legalized from tabacco ,alcohol and gambling which does more damage than street level drugs like marijuana.The only reason they do not legalize marijuana is becuase no enough people smoke it and then they would even tax marijuana.The government is the enemy when it comes to pharmacy drugs as many people die becuase of pill addiction.The government become communist when it bars everything .Is your government communist.David

"looseys" as they are usually called are sold to bums or poor people who cant afford an entire pack for as much as a 1.00-1.25...

you make 20.00-30.00

even at 50 cents you make 10.00

you can sell them for what ever you want.. while paying a fixed tax..

the tobacco company would probablly have to package them.. and label them.. inorder to apply a proper tax for each unit.. (Like a cigar)
