Why is it important for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 to lose the Ashes?
The fifth and last Test match has begun in the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). The Barmy Army came out in their full ridiculous avatar of New Year costumes. They have prepared new songs for the Aussies especially for the tattooed Aussie cat, Mitchell Johnson.
The Australian fans came out in full force as well. They were lending their support to the two debutantes that are being seen as the “new era for Australian cricket”. They also came to see how bad their potential “new” Test captain is. Or maybe, just maybe,
how good he gets when he comfortably slips into Ricky Ponting’s shoes.
However, something just has to go wrong for Australia this season. If it wasn’t the usual collapse of the Aussie top order, it was the heavenly doors of rain. The dark clouds hovered over Sydney. Nevertheless, Australia were happy by the fact as they raked
in a good solid start. 134 for the loss of four is a good start, you say? Well considering the fact that they were slumped to 98 for the loss of all wickets in the fourth Ashes Test. Of course the wickets fell at regular intervals, just as the rain kept on
hindering their pace. It finally fell in copious quantities and the play stopped. It had to happen at some point of this series. Someone needed to play Test cricket just like old times. It was then that debutante http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729, walked in. Khawaja flicked a
ball off his legs and pulled a ball beautifully for four. He smashed five fours and even though he had an occasional stiff front leg, there was no doubt he could bat. He was dismissed for 37 runs. The Aussie media and fans are seemingly happy about him. He
has such charisma that Michael ‘pup’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 sadly does not.
But what does the Australian cricket really need to do? The urn has already slipped from their reach so what is the point of even trying to win the last Ashes Test. Her Majesty’s squad has proved that they were much better than the Aussies, so why not let
the Englishmen rub it in a bit more? England are 2-1 in the series but 3-1 will be even better. Not for England, but for Australia. Even though the chances are very slim for Australia to level the series, they should not even try to win it. Australia can only
win if they kidnap the entire England team and only Paul Collingwood will be available to play against Clarke and his men. This is, of course not possible in reality.
If Australia wins, everything can go wrong. Khawaja and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949 will be hailed as the next big thing even though they will lose the One Day series and the Twenty20 matches. The Aussies will think that they were close to England and luck was not on their
side this time. So the best thing for them is to lose the series and the limited over games after that. And then, suddenly come back in the World Cup to retain their trophy. Their cricket will undergo the rebuilding process and for the next twenty years or
so, they will be the formidable side.
Push Ricky Ponting off the cliff
Australian cricket does not need a 36-year-old “legend” to lead the already slumping side. He is being stubborn as he was with the umpires and is refusing to go down the order. Even if Clarke, by some magic potion, wins the Sydney Test; he will still not
be given the captaincy. So Clarke and Brad Haddin will then need to push Ponting off a cliff, any cliff would do. Even the stairs of the SCG would work.
Youngsters ruling the squad
When Australia will lose the series, they will think why the senior players did not perform? Then the selection panel will listen to Shane Warne and bring the youngsters on board to build the dream team. They will have the skills and Warne will help them
in executing their talent. The cricket authorities will also make sure that Elizabeth Hurley is kept at bay.
Andrew Hilditch falls with Ponting as well
He is the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 of Australian cricket. Once Australia fails, Hilditch will need to fall as well. He could take the stairs route but a gun can work as well. And then that gun could also be used for Butt as well.
The Aussies must not feel ashamed to deliberately lose the Ashes series. It is all being done in building a future for the World’s best side ever.
