  1. Because you'll miss something during a reaction that is vital to taking record of for making a decision about what is going on in the system.


  2. If they're not good observers, then they're basically not good scientists. Observations are part of the scientific method. If you can't observe, you basically can't hear, see, taste, touch, feel, etc.
