  1. because if all the seed fall of right around the plant and the all grow to adulthood then all Those plants will be competing for the same resources the the parent plant was thriving on and when all those plants drop seeds again and they grow up there won't be enough resourses to keep them alive


  2. Seeds must be dispersed for several reasons.  One is that if they weren't they would overcrowd the immediate area and there would be too much competition for resources.  Another is to help ensure that some seeds grow.  Conditions may not be good in some areas, including where the plant the seeds came from is growing.  By spreading the seeds over a wide area it increases the chances that some will land in favorable conditions and be able to grow.  There are many other reasons.  Some environmental, some genetic, etc.
