Why is it important for businesses to follow laws?

The same reasons we  as individuals must follow laws. Not to mention the EEOC.....and BBB, etc. If a business is operating unethically, who in their right mind would want to take their money to them!

(not to mention the avoidance of law suits)!

Because most people think that when someone (or a business) follows the law then they are honest and trustworthy. By not following the law then 1.) you could go out of business because of government enforcement 2.) Not as many people would use your company leading to going out of business. How many businesses do you know that don't follow the law, are highly successful and have lasted?
