  1. I'm a pre-school teacher and guidelines are very important to have in classrooms. They help the children learn boundaries, they need to understand what is expected of them. Also, it teaches the children how to stay on a set schedule. I know some parents look at schedules as a crazy idea to put children on but the benefit from it tremendously.

  2. without them it would be total madness.  you need limits to keep children safe, help teach them limits and to ensure the teachers will come back the next day.

and as another poster said, because parents don't teach their kidlets limits these days, so someone has to.

  3. because parents don't teach their kids anything these days in terms of limits. It's important because when they get to school they know how to act, what they can do and what they can't

  4. Ultimately? Because the care-giver is responsible and accountable for the safety and well-being of the children in his/her care. Being that the children are very young, and just beginning to learn about social skills, empathy, and safety, it is the care-provider's role to introduce, educate, model, and reinforce appropriate behaviours. In this way, they can ensure that all children are guided by the same, fair principles when interacting the centre.

    Hope that helps!

  5. A child care center needs standards to protect all the children, safety, manners, what they can bring with them.  A lot of the guidelines should be common sense, but these days, you have to spell it out for some people who don't raise their kids with basic values.
