Why is it important to give back to the community?

For example if a person gets very successful and become rich.

Like a lawyer, doctor, professional athlete, entrepreneur etc.

Wouldn't that seem greedy toward the community because they didn't know you before you were successful and the only thing the know about you is your dollar signs.

Because otherwise when you look at yourself in the mirror, there is no getting around that what you see is a greedy selfish b*****d. That is why Bill Gates founded a foundation and T. Boone Pickens is working to make America energy independent.

I think it is very important to give back to the community. I think of Angelina Jolie. She is one of the most famous people on earth, and she has butt loads of money, she stars in movies, does all this stuff and earns herself a living at doing something she's good at. She could keep it all for herself and be greedy, but she doesn't. She goes to Africa and helps the needy kids, and she adopts children from less fortunate countries. If I ever became famous like her, I would want to be like her. Do good things and give to people that can't have what you have.

I don't think it would be very fair if I had millions of dollars and could do whatever I wanted, and yet there were families and children somewhere else struggling to feed themselves.

To whom "MUCH" is given, "MUCH" is expected in return.  You would be the apidimy of self-centeredness and selfishness if you were someone who did not give back.

Giving back does not mean $ only.  There are many ways to give back, such as being on a citizens advisory board, or volunteering your time for a worthy cause.  

The community will show you how much they appreciate your giving, and you will feel like they have given to you instead.

Giving is love, and love makes the world a better place.
