  1. Making choices is essentail if young children are to be encouraged to become active learners. Encouraging the children to participate in creating the environment facilitates independence and helps foster a sense of belonging. You will find that if resources are accessible for children to select and transport to support thier play and enquiries you will observe  their own patterns of play (schemas)   and find out a lot about each child's preferences and interests. You will also see that children who are encoraged to make chioces will also take reponsibility for their environment and be more engaged in tidying up, looking after things etc:

    Most important, is ensuring the environment enables child initiated play and caters for the diverse needs of all unique children.

    An answer to this one in my opinion is to help the child feel at home in his educational environment.
