Also, in practical situations, it's very useful to know where to look in a textbook to find specific answers.  I do this often.  You may not use textbooks in your daily life yet, (or ever), but many people do!

Because then you can maximize your studying.  You will know where to find things if you can't find them in the text, and also it allows you to get the most information possible from a book.  Sometimes if you want more information on a subject it will tell you possible sources
