Please clarify your question.  What type of documents?  If you need a generic answer, to show pride in your work.  To show you actually put effort into what you are producing.  It also depends on where the documents will end up.  There is a level of professionalism that is expected of business documents.  That standard should not be lowered.  There are internal notations and casual correspondence, but your work should reflect your professionalism and the quality you can produce.
