  1. Not sure if I understand exactly what you mean. With experience in a preschool setting for the last 5 years, I think you mean why is it important for communication between parents and teachers in a preschool setting? First off, Its important for parents to share information about their child with the preschool teachers, so that the preschool understands what issues with the child they may have to deal with. Things that happen at home and at school can change and shape the childs behavior, in both school and home life. If the parents and teachers do not share important (and seemingly unimportant) events in the childs life, things that the child does or doesn't do aren't understandable, and if its a negative behavior, you may not understand why the child is doing something they have been told to do in the other setting. I hope what I'm trying to say here makes sense, if not, say so and I'll try to rewrite it!

  2. To be able to use this information in order to help the child to learn in a fun and developmentally appropriate way. It helps to know what has helped in other classes and at home. I am sure if you search you will find an answer in your class notes or your course book too.

  3. As a parent, the child acts differently at home than they do in a daycare environment.  It's a way for the parents and teachers to partner in helping with the child's development; share information about the child; come up with solutions to keep children engaged; identify potential problems early so that they can be dealt with properly; to name some of the reasons it's important.

It also keeps parents up to date on what the children are learning in the classroom so that they can supplement and support that learning through home activities.  It's also a way for parents and teachers to discuss other things that may impact students (i.e. inform teacher about changes in household, homelife, etc. which could impact behavior in kids).
