  2. Its important to study culture

    because what you are doing

is getting to know how other

    people live their habits

    the food they eat

    and their language

    Also their background

  3. It's important to study culture, in short,  so that you get a broader perspective of what people's backgrounds are. You will be able to understand a little bit of their reasoning, beliefs, ideas, important people these cultures looked up to not only in the present but in the past.

Think of American culture:  Why would a white guy interested in running for a political office want to learn about the importance of Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., life on plantations, how slaves were treated, how blacks are treated today in urban and rural settings, Mexican immigrants, what it means to Mexican-Americans to have their forefathers accepted to slave away at places illegally but never have any rights?  It goes on and on and on.

Bring it all home to yourself, and make it relevant to you, and suddenly it everything becomes a lot more interesting.
