  1. even it is happening in andhra pradesh. i think there is no such rule to avoid this kind of marriages.

but sure i agree with you there is a clear chance to have genetical disorders for their children.

  2. A married woman's children are considered those belonging to her husbands side of the family. According to belief there is no blood relationship between her offspring and her brother or brothers children.

Secondly it guarantees security, as the marriage is taking place in the family.

Then there are property issues too.

Unethical as it may be, these are certain customs one cannot change easily. In fact a girls hand is first offered to the maternal uncle in marriage, only if he declines do the parents of the girl look for a groom outside.

  3. Because those who made up this law were probably born from parents who married this way, and therefore wanted to give their parents legal protection for incesting.  The other possibility could be that the lawmaker needed legal protection to marry his niece.  So it's a chicken or the egg thing.

  4. Because they are uneducated...i guess

  5. Your name is Kannan and for sure you must be a tamilian.

Then why this question Mr. Kannan?

Can you tell me where it is illegal for a woman to marry her mother's bro?
