If i was in goverment, i could pass a law wich taxes you, in an attempt to keep you poor and keep me rich.

Or i could point a weapon at you and ask you for cash.

What's the difference.?

  1. one is robbing and one is taxing I guess.

  2. The diffirence is taxes are applied to gov programs such as wellfare, food stamps, housing, and basicley any other gov service you may use. Robing someone takes money directly from someone by force the person being robed may be poor or rich and may have worked hard for that money.

  3. interedting question

the government taxes people but they dont care about the impact it has on the individual.

robbers physically harm people and spend the money on themselves. also the gocernemnt spends the money on society or so we think

  4. GREAT QUESTION!!!

The only difference is that you would get paid for it if you were in government and might go to jail for it if you used a weapon.

  5. The definition of theft is the taking of anothers goods or chattels, and thus  to permanently deprive someone, of the right to enjoy their possessions..... "permanently", remember ! that, it follows that most governments would argue that they are not doing this, but I would point out, that Gordon Brown, has done just that, with the pensions....

But the difference lies in the philosophy.......

Cases have occurred, when a person being prosecuted has argued, and won on the basis that the intent to steal, was not part of the issue, and their was never any intent to "permanently" deprive.....

  6. Well if you go by your avatar, then why not just get weapon and kill the person for the cash.

    He gets away with it
