Question:

Why is it more acceptible for a woman to call a man ugly than vice versa?

if a man calls a woman fat or ugly, people see it as a form of abuse and he is branded as a shallow jerk. but i'm always hearing women maing snide comments about men's appearances and about how they "can't get laid" and stuff like that. also, i'm pretty sure if a man tells a woman she's flat chested or something like that, he could get sued for sexual harassment. yet i've had girls get on me for having body hair and i can't imagine getting pissed and making a scene, let alone taking legal action.

does anybody else notice this double stamdard? why do you think things are this way? and don't you think it's about time women start gettng grilled for the same things men are getting grilled for?

  1. It's not acceptable for that word to be used when describing someones appearance.

  2. The reverse of your fantasy is true.

  3. It is acceptable but that doesn't make it right. I myself like it when  a man has body hair. I'm not talking about werewolf style. But I do like to know that my man is grown. And having hair on the body assures that for me. And most of the time the women who sue for sexual harassment based on what someone said are just looking for a quick buck anyway.

  4. When you check out some girls they think you're a dog. But when a girl checks out a guy it's alright. They must think that men only look at body parts and thats not true at all. I remember I liked this girl only because she had big forehead and that was it.

  5. No one is ugly...I hate that word.  If I heard a girl call a guy ugly I wouldn't consider it "okay" I would think she was rude.

  6. It's not acceptable for either gender to call each other ugly. It's mean.

  7. Yes, it's a double-standard.

But, some men also see it as a compliment to be an "ugly man" dating a beautiful woman.  Maybe guys aren't as insulted to hear appearance-related comments, but are more sensitive to comments that make them feel "effeminate" (comments referring to lack of power, being homosexual, etc).

In my opinion though, calling both genders ugly is MEAN.

Maybe those women making snide remarks are mad that they couldn't have a certain man?  Or maybe that man called them ugly and they're just saying it back.

EDIT: Lol hero..that's why I said SOME. ;) Yes, I do some men would feel offended too, but maybe people assume that guys don't care.

But hey, there are women who don't care about being called fat and ugly either.

  8. In this aspect, men have better autoestime than women thats why.

  9. Because the woman is the man now (bad term but anyway)

Women are going on to men's world more and more until we have nothing we're we can just be ourselves. Men just dont wanna go to women's world because... Yeah, you get it.

Media is just blessed the women to be ''the better gender'', so they kinda have the right to tell men whatever they want, but men just simply cant do it.

Just think of two words and see what they bring to mind.

Feminism = (media thinks: Intelligent women trying to get women more rights and equal value in society

Opposite of feminism (dont know the word) Fat old impotent f**** who cant get la**

We've had our control, now its women's turn.

  10. hero, why would u even want to associate with woman who say that to you. if she say that shes not worth your time. it does not matter if it is acceptable or not. You need to look at yourself and decide if your ugly or not.

  11. I did not know it was acceptable for anyone call some one ugly.

How would a snide remark cause a lawsuit unless it's at work?

  12. maxim, stuff, howard stern, etc... are all examples of men judging women's appearance.  there is no double standard like you claim. also see website sarahjessicaparkerhashorseface.com

    EDIT:

"but i'm always hearing women maing snide comments about men's appearances and about how they "can't get laid" and stuff like that. also, i'm pretty sure if a man tells a woman she's flat chested or something like that, he could get sued for sexual harassment."

You say you have never heard men making snide comments about women?  Unbelievable.  A man could more likely get sued if he tells a woman she has enormous b*****s, not flat ones.

The real double-standard is not women calling men ugly, it is women calling men attractive.  If man compliments woman on appearance, woman can take offense.  But if woman compliments man on appearance, if man takes offense, people will think that man is crazy.

Probably that man is crazy, so this double-standard is OK.

  13. dude i get called ugly and fat all the time..

i even call myself ugly and fat...

mostly coz i am. it doesnt bother me when im called that..

i mean why should it? its true..and besides ..head them off before they hurt you.

  14. Thats a great question. It might be because girls perception of boys might be that we are tough, macho and show little emotion and think that we aren't bother by such a rude comment. The fact is that our feelings get hurt too, we just hide our emotions becuase that would be a sign of weekness.

  15. I get called names as well and I'm female. Both genders do it, so I don't see the double standard.

Maybe where you are from people see things different but here no body is off limits on name calling, and it don't matter who's doing the name calling.
