  1. That isn't true actually, there are multiple pictures out there in day light. But, maybe it is easier to see ghosts at night and they don't usually use flash...

  2. This is me speculating so forgive me if it sounds funky or anything but perhaps the reason ghost activity is witnessed or observed at night is because apparently the energy ghosts use is not blocked out by all the daylight energy of lights and stereos and tvs and cars. There is a huge reduction of that activity at night because most sleep not to mention solar activity. So maybe the lesser degree of energy commonly used is more apparent because we are not so bombarded with everything else. Maybe that's why we instinctively try to turn on the lights even though if the ghost is there, its there right? I don't think that it is because ghosts are there or not during the day or night but it is just when we are in tune with it and we are drawn to energy and light. When it is dark out at night we look to the light, wherever it may be or whatever it may be. But I don't know, like I said just speculating.

  3. The trend is for people to work at a cash paying job during the day and that restricts the hours that ghost hunters do their thing.

Remember Elke Summers photos in her haunted house?  A lot were during the day by someone who was able to be home during those hours.

  4. I think that they are pictured mostly at night because that is the time that most groups investigate because that is the time that most clients have claims of activity.  You have to try to dupicate as close as is possible to conditions.  It is possible to have activity and get photographic evidence during the day however.

  5. The thing about the paranormal is that it can happen at any time.

So the rule of thumb about hauntings happening between 11 PM and 4 AM are not true.

The house I grew up in, things happened all the time. There was no set time period. Things could happen late at night just as easily as during the middle of the day.

Since most reported hauntings happen at places of business, it's hard to do an investigation with the public present.

And then you have the possibility of someone intentionally corrupting any evidence collected.

And if doing a home investigation, one has to keep track of where everyone is at.

Most pictures are taken at night because you will have a darker background to compare your pictures against.

And if there's a question regarding a shadow versus an actual "entity" it will be seen in the exposures.

Some people believe that orbs are energy particles from ghosts.

I personally think it's dust or moisture, but I'm not the expert.

So when people do use a flash at night, it's to expose the orbs for photographing.

But then again, I've seen pictures taken during the daylight hours and one can see "orbs."

  6. it's been said that most paranormal activity happens around and after 3:00am

  7. I've got some that were taken with a flash and some that weren't

2 friends of mine have one that was taken in the daytime.

Do you expect to see science when investigating the paranormal?

As a scientist, I find it interesting to try to connect the 2, but it doesn't always happen, and when it doesn't, I find those to be the interesting ones.....

  8. The science is that spirits show up on film when you can't see them.there have been spiritfoto's durring the day as well.

  9. Excellent question!

More photos tend to be taken at night, because that's when there tends to be more activity.

Can't answer on the flash part of it... most ghost photos with a flash tend not to be credible and are dismissed by real researchers, in general, though there are many notable exceptions to this rule.

Additionally, most of the really convincing ghost photos are taken in broad daylight.

  10. The theory is that the most paranormal activity is a 3 a.m. or "Dead Time" You need to use flash in order to see anything, or else the photo would be all black! : P

Edit: You added more details about why people shut off the lights. I believe that if you have lights on, some spirits may be confused as to if it is day or night. So, going back to the 3 am theory, they might not think it is that time? As others said. There have been many pictures taken during broad daylight. I am not for sure, but that is my belief. Investigators just have their own techniques.
