  1. Respiration releases energy in the form of ATP from food for use in cell energy requiring reactions.

Respiration can be aerobic in the presence of oxygen which has three stages, glycolysis, Kreb's cycle and electron transport chain. Aerobic repiration of glucose yields 38 ATP molecules per molecule of glucose respired. The glucose is completely broken down to carbondixide and water.

Anaerobic respiration in the absence of oxygen is partial breakdown of glucose to lactic acid in animal cells anf ethanol  and carbon dioxide in plant cells. This only involves the first stage, glycolysis and yields only 2 ATP molecules of glucose respired anaerobically.

Glycolysis takes place in the cytoplasm of the cell, the other two stages in the mitochondrion. Kreb's cycle occurs in the matrix of the mitochondrion and the electron transfer chain on the cristae of the mitochondrion..

    Hope this helps!

  2. the cellular respiration provides the cells of energy which helps the cells complete it's vital functions.

without the cellular respiration, the cell dies.

if you want details of the cellular respiration details:

that happens in means of 4 steps:

1- glycolyse which is when glucose enters the cytoplasm of the cell and is transformed into pyruvic acid.

2- pyruvic acid is transformed into co.a acetyl

3- the co.A acetyl penetrates into the mitochondria of the cell where krebs cycle occurs. the krebs cycle is some operations during which the glucose is loosing electrons and during which some energy is produced

4- the electrons transport in the internal membran of the mitochondria during which a big energy is produced and some water molecules form.

you see that without the cellular respiration, the cell won't have energy and will die
