  1. Because as you approach the speed of light your mass approaches infinity.  Infinite mass is not possible in our universe.

  2. You can go faster then light. If your an alien from outerspace. Humans on earth do not have the knowledge yet to build a spaceship that can carry a live person that fast.earth people are not as smart as aliens from outerspace yet. they are still way to primitive. That will change in 2020 when the teens of that time show thier far superior minds to thier adult parents and teachers.

  3. For the same reason ice caps are the poles of Earth, that's just the way it is.

  4. Einstein said that as an object approaches the speed of light it's MASS becomes an INFINITE number I

  5. Our universe is bound by the laws of physics. I don't think travelling faster than light is possible. Has something to do with increased or infinite mass. But travelling at the speed of light is theoretically possible since it light speed does in fact exist in our universe. We'll probably never do it because we have mass and light does not. Light is all energy, no mass.

  6. It IS possibal to travel at the speed of light, scientists just aren't quite sure HOW yet.

    wish i could help more, but i hav'ent studied up on this subject quite enough yet.

  7. Science can't really answer "why" questions like this.  It is just a fact of the universe we live in, that nothing material can go faster than light.   As anything goes faster and faster, it's mass increases.  This  effect is very slight for speeds way below the  speed of light, but is very important for anything moving close to   the speed of light.  The closer the speed gets to light speed, the more the mass increases.  At light speed, the  mass would be infinite, and it would take infinite energy to go that fast.

  8. As you get closer to the speed of light, your mass increases, it then requires more energy to get you to increase your speed more.  Your mass keeps increasing, and IF you could propel yourself to the speed of light (which we don't have the means to do, it requires too much energy) then you have an infinite mass, and it is impossible to move any faster.  Theoretically you could use wormholes like shortcuts, but it is not moving faster than the speed of light.

  9. I think I am correct in saying that speeds faster than light can be achievable in a medium, such as water. But in a medium like water, light doesn't travel at the 300 million meters per second it does in a vacuum. But in a vacuum, it's just not possible.

  10. in mathmatical explaination, the addition of 2 speed is:

    u = (v + w) / (1 + (vw/c^2))

    where v and w are the speed of 2 objects to add up with, and u is the relative speed.

    if v and w are much smaller than c (speed of light), the formula will become u = v + w (that's what we use at low speed).

    however, if v and w approach c, like 0.99c for both, the result is NOT 1.98c, it should become 0.99995c.  we can only get the speed sum approaching c, but never able to excess.

    play around the formula and plot a graph of u and v values from 0c to 3c and you will see the resulting speed nevet excess c. beside let's try v = w = 2c!! (double speed of light?).  funny is, the resulting speed is ....0.8c, NOT 4c!

    BTW, the formula is called "Einstein velocity-addition formula" just in case u want to do a search on web.
