Why is it often written that the uk has a spatial and temporal mismatch of water demand and supply?

  1. I don't know. I didn't realize that it was written very frequently. I hadn't read it.

    Perhaps because we use so much water, that is why we are 'half-soaked'.

It is a where and when statement.  If you look at rainfall where and when and compare it to demand where and when you will notice a mismatch.  That is why there are hosepipe bans in some areas but not others.  For example, the south-east UK has very high demand, particularly in summer, but the rainfall patterns recently have been low and mostly winter.  That of course is what reservoirs are for, but the low rainfall has not refilled them in recent winters.
