Why is it ok for me to touch the screen on my camera??

what is the difference between touching that and a tv or computer screen??

  1. As for new TVs that are also LCD screens just like your camera or your laptop, touching is no big deal except for finger prints and gradually deforming the imaging plane. Now for the longest time, TVs were actually CRT displays. Your parents probably told you not to touch them because of shock from the high amounts of static electricity you'd absorb and the radiation hazard. Now that CRTs are gone, this isn't relevant.


  2. If you put it that way, no difference actually.

    The screen is just a screen, just a little smaller. Functions just the same - to display images.

    So it's okay to touch the screen. No harm will be done to the camera except for leaving some fingerprints and oily smudge on the screen but a quick wipe with a cloth should take care of that.

    Your camera lens, however, is a different thing though. You should really not touch that.
