  1. it's not

  2. Because Whoopi is an African-American, whose ancestors were slaves.

Elizabeth has no understanding of the meaning of the "N" word , and no comprehension of the anger it will bring; mainly because she's a honky Conservative racist.

  3. Well they say, because the N word, has negative connotations when spoken by a white American.

But can be used as a term of endearment, by African Americans.

    But what I wanna know,

Is it then ok for white people who are not Americans

    ( Russians, Italians, etc )

To use the N word, since they don't have a past of using the N word, in a negative connotation.

Or is it ok for Black Africans to use the N word, since it was never used against them, in a negative connotation.

    Points to ponder.

  4. i saw that episode! that was ridiculous!

it really doesnt make any sense to me and it really made me mad when i watched it!

  5. why do people watch and then talk about trash like the View. Those old bags ought to get real jobs and quit flapping their mouths for an hour a day.

  6. I didn't see it... I'm not sure why hasselback cried.

But it shouldn't be okay. Banning a word en masse is pretty unheard of these days. There seems to be the resolve to bury it, and I agree, but its hypocritical for african americans to claim only they can use the word. Frankly it never should have been admitted into their vocabulary even as an affectionate term. It does their ancestors a disservice.

If its about the "spirit" in which its used... a white person can use it as a term of affection toward a black friend, but still that's not okay? That's hypocrisy.

Either it should be okay for everyone if something positive is meant, or no one.

  7. makes no sense

  8. Because it was Whoopi's ancestors who were called the n word by their white owners. Coming from a white person, it is a word of oppression.

I find that word offensive, no matter who is using it, but it belongs to blacks. They can do whatever they want with it.

  9. The N word is bad always if Black  world wants to get rid of racism they must get rid of all of the N word.

  10. Why is in okay for you to re-read your question and say: "Rich, you are such a ******* *******!" but not okay for me to say the same thing?

    Same reason.

  11. I refrain from using the word you are referring to, because I am white and I know that it is offensive to blacks.  The N word irritates the p**s out of me regardless of who's mouth is uttering it.  However I really, really, really, really get pissed off when blacks use it to greet each other.  Regardless of whether you drop the final "r" off the end of the word or not, it just sounds awful.  To answer your question, I think, that black culture uses it in a way they claim not to be offensive, however its one of those words that in any context is offensive in itself, regardless of its use as a noun or an adjective or whatever!!!!!

  12. Who cares! Have they nothing better to talk about? What a bunch of losers. Just shows how totally out of touch they all are with the important issues or maybe they don't understand the issues as they have no bearing on them at all as they are celebs.

  13. double standards and hypocrisy

  14. I didn't see this show, however, I would imagine that it is ok for Whoopi to say it and not EH is that Whoopi is black.  As with pretty much every racial slur out there, the only time when it is "ok" for someone to say it is when they are the race.

    *shrug*
