  1. We invented the concept of race; it was erroneous, but we couched it in all sorts of scientific sounding language.

As far as I can tell, the other animals are not so egocentric.

  2. Dogs have races.

Unless you are a n**i, you cannot say that humas have a race.

Everybody who says that humans have a race is, by definition, a racist.

  3. well actuly they do, eg. for dogs...you can get a Chihuahua which is a mexican dog then you can get a shitzzhu which is from the asian area like singapore. So they arwe different species and race.

and also you can get a mixxed race dog if 2 dogs who are different breeds mate...so if you breed a lab with a springer then you will get a "mixed race" puppy.

"pure breed dogs" are called pedigrees.

  4. we call it race....in the animal world it's called breed......

there are different breed of the same animal, each with it's own unique and distcintive features and colors

just as there are different breeds of human, with the same unique charactaristics that make them different from others....we just call it race instead

and my dogs are mixed race.....labrador and shepherd and labrador and foxhound.....

  5. Your Majesty,

as for the hamsters, I wouldn't know, lol. But there were different races of wild horses once, now only the Przcewalsky is left. (I probably spelt that wrong!) The wild reindeer, now that comes in at last two diff. races, the European and the Canadian, the caribou. The tiger, there are the Bengal tiger and the Siberian. There are of course many more examples, my point was that there are races that are not breeds, i.e. not created by humans. Diversity is the norm rather than the exception in nature. Of course, it is not usual to call them races. Type or sub-species are words I have heard. But it comes down to the same thing, I believe. A rose is a rose is a rose.

  6. The reason why people have "race" is because some people refuse to stop presenting "race" as an issue.  I believe it will take a global awakening before the idea of race becomes obsolete and people realize that we are all "human beings" trying to find happiness in this crazy world!

  7. have you never heard of the Kentuky derby? that's a "horse" race. :) yuck! yuck!

  8. they do, we just dont understand, cause the are a different race. get it. im not a joking person.but anyway..............

  9. Actually that's a good question. I haven't really thought about that for a long time. You' re right. In the animal kingdom, we only see race-like differences in species we humans have selectively bread. Such as dogs where it's believed they all came from wolves.

I'd have to guess that if it wasn't at the tower of babel when God changed all mans languages, then I'd have to assume it happened as we moved out from our original location and encountered over hundreds of years different climate changes. But then what about the animals, they've moved out across the world as well, except with them you don't see the same species with race-like changes. If it's different it's usually a totally different species. I'd have to say that animals must have moved out much more slowly then humans did, and didn't go as far because if they had spread out as fast as humans we should, logically speaking if this is the cause of racial differences, see race-like changes in the same species of animals as well across the world.

Hmmm, I'd have to say go and ask a professor of biology, environmental science, evolutionary science, or the ones that teach about early human progression, I forget what they are called.

Oh yeah I wanted to mention something for all you who keep mentioning breeds and dogs......They don't count because they didn't happen naturally, like people did, they happened because we people selectively bread them to be different.

  10. Animals do have "Race" it is called "Breed". SO you have different Breeds of horses, cows, cats, dogs and - yes - hamsters.

You hear of Mixed Breed dogs rather than "Pure Breds".

It is all a case of semantics

  11. All animals are equal, but among them some are more equal than the others.......

I would say animals have races too, just look at it this way, Animals have different species found in different countries. e.g dogs

  12. Animals have breeds, plants have varieties or cultivars.

Actually the word race is used for plants and animals occasionally, it's not that common though.

The exact definition is 'an inbreeding population that shares characteristics'.

  13. UH - all creatures have different "races", it is just called something ELSE - like species, or sub-species, or breed.

Regardless, it is the same thing - WHY we use "Race" instead of species or breed - I dunno - try looking it up in Wikipedia.

  14. Race doesn't exist, it's a social construct

  15. Because we humans are the dominate animal. We have a conscience and have minds of our own to speak to others in a sophisticated way. In reality we have shaped the word race into society. Thats why there is no race as for an animal but there is a "breed", and as for that word we have created. Its all just words that the human mind has created to shape reality and make the world less complex and into a way that we can comprehend it.

  16. Animals have a similar thing to our race, its called species.
