  1. What other country in the world allows a defendant on trial to be judged by a jury of his peers??  It is an honor, and duty, to participate in the judicial process.

Just imagine yourself on trial for a heinous crime that you know you did not commit.  Wouldn't you want to be judged by the common people as opposed to one elected person?

  2. It's not an honor, it's a civic duty.

  3. Who knows?

  4. Where does it say it's an honor?

  5. It's more like a chore

  6. It's my civic duty to give the guilty b******s a fair trial!

  7. "Jury duty" in essence started during  King John's reign in 1199-1216. King John could imprision anyone he wanted, but some barons of the time made him sign the Magna Carta. One of the sections of this document said the King couldn't imprision people at his will. Because of this, a trial by peers was started. So I suppose it could be said jury duty is to protect people from wrongful punishment.
