Question:

Why is it "illegal" for pest control companies to exterminate dangerous spiders?

I signed up for service with a pest control company mainly because I wanted to eliminate a spider infestation (brown recluse included). After I had already signed a year contract, they told me that it was llegal for them to specifically kill spiders. I am terrified of the things, as I have been bitten before, and I have 2 small kids who are not afraid to pick up bugs. I have tried killing them myself, but the store-bought chemicals never really work, and I can't use them in most places on the main floor because of the kids. Why do they claim it's illegal to exterminate them? How can I get rid of them successfully (and safely)?
