  2. The Indians have been doing a lot of rain dances there.

  3. There was an upper level low pressure system that basically parked over western Colorado.  The rotation of this upper low brought smaller upper disturbances which interacted with a lot of low level moisture being blown up against the mountains.  These factors all combined to produce a fairly long period of good rains.
