Why is it rare to see guinea pig for sale(the long haired)?

I wanted a peruvian and a abyssinian but i only found english and abyssinian for sale so i bought 2 abys but why is it rare to see long haured one's both at pet store and breeder and rescue places

its not rare

depeds on the pet store you can always aks them if they will get it for you i had a peruvian and abbysian guinea pigs ( 3) for 2 years but i had to gave them away casue i im allergic to its hair

It's not rare, it just depends on what that particular store has in stock at any given time. If you go back a week later they might have nothing but long haired guinea pigs. If you really want a certain type you could try finding a local breeder.

No I adopted all mine from shelters.

It must just be your area. There are no shortage of them in the shelters or rescues where I live.

Not very rare where I live. The pet stores & rescues often have both short & long haired varieties of the guinea pigs.

It may be rare around where you live, but usually you can find them without a problem.
