  1. it depends on were you are and how loud you talk and what the rules are for staying quite

  2. It's not rude to talk on a cellphone in public if you're talking at a normal volume.  Try speaking more quietly next time you get a call and see if the person on the other end can still hear you.  I tried that and realised that they could - just because it was noisy where I was, it didn't make it any harder for them to hear me.

It is rude to talk on your phone when you're in company though I think.  Can't stand it when I'm out with friends and they do that.

  3. I don't think it's rude if you're sitting by yourself having the conversation.  When you are standing in line paying for something, ordering something, etc. then you should be focusing on the task at hand and not the conversation you are having with the person on the other end.  It silly when someone is walking through the mall talking on the phone and holding everyone else up around them because they are absorbed in their conversation. There are too many people in the world today that think that phone call they are getting stops the world until they hang up. People lose focus when they take a phone call, it shouldn't be done when you are occupied with something else.

  4. It matters a lot as to where you are and the environment around you.  For example, I see no problem using one when you are outside waiting or just sitting outside, or are in a some office waiting rooms, or at a friends house.  However, there are some environments where cell phone use is totally wrong like at restaurants, movie theaters, stage theaters, on airplanes, libraries, meetings, and conferences.   Basically you need to consider who you are with, whether or not phone calls would disturb others, and the environment around you, and how respectful phone use would be in that situation

  5. Well yes it is, but Ive noticed people tend to talk louder on mobiles, and also they tend to have very personal conversations or they argue. No one wants to hear what you did in bed last night or feel tension when you argue with your spouse or boy/girlfriend. Same as if you sat on a train or bus and had the exact same conversation with your spouse or a friend.

  6. No it is not just another conversation!  Most people just see you as an airhead!!

Bumping into people, getting in peoples way and being a total liability is just a few of the ignorant things people with phones stuck to their ear do!!

  7. It depends where you are and if you are in company of someone else and how important it is to make that call. It's ok to use a cell phone if you need to leave a message or if you forgot something.. or need to ring the doctor.. or get the pharmacist to get your prescription ready, if you are out partying late..  it's best to call for a taxi and you can do that on the cell phone.. If you see someone is in trouble you can dial 911 over the cell phone to get help there quicker ..  or if you feel in danger call 911 but for long talks I would use a normal phone and call  from home. It's a lot more expensive to make long distance calls over a cell phone and you get cheaper rates on a normal phone.. xx and it's ok to have a short conversation on a cell phone but not to talk for an hour...  xx

  8. And as for personal conversations concern there are places and times when you can have them and others when you shouldn't, besides I agree people tend to talk louder when they are talking over the phone, for me that's so annoying MUST listen to others' affairs is not my thing!

  9. I have no problem with you answering the phone in a public place. We all carry them now and can't control where they are going to ring. With that said I don't like the disrespect where a customer whom a clerk is ringing up at the register is on the cell phone and holding up others. This is disrespectful to the clerk and other customers. A phone in certain public areas should be turned off.

  10. It's because people tend to talk louder when they're on the phone and they also don't pay attention to others around them. They can bump into people and not even notice. When you're walking with someone else and speaking to him/her, you're more aware of your surroundings.
