  1. It's not rude, it's just that Europeans don't wear white socks with tennis shoes unless they are actually playing a sport or exercising. Also, Americans tend to match their socks with their shoes, while other's tend to match their sock with their pants.

  2. Just buy a bunch of grey socks and you'll be fine :)

  3. I lived in Ireland for 14 years, and I had never heard of any one think or say it was rude to wear whites socks with white tennis shoes(sneakers).Half the people I know who are Irish wear white socks when they wear tennis shoes(sneakers).

Hope you have a grand time while your there.

  4. no more than someone ordering a COORS in MILWAUKEE

  5. I wouldn't consider it rude. At worst, someone might sneer at you. But I can't see that happening either, I think you'll be fine if that's what you wear. Personally, I find socks and sandals far more offensive!

  6. I think you have been misinformed.  There is no reason why people would consider this rude, lots of people here in Ireland wear white socks with tennis shoes.  The only places this might be a problem would be pubs and clubs who have a dress code in the evenings.  These premises tend to have security staff at the doors.  Enjoy yourself and wear what you feel comfortable in!
