I've noticed this in many large offices in the Dallas TX area. It gets hot here. The building facilities people seem h**l-bent on keeping the inside temp as far away from the outside temp as possible. So in the winter time I can wear short sleeves inside and be comfortable. In the summer time I'm often wearing a jacket inside. It's crazy. ... Particularly when energy costs are so high.

Now that it has gotten hot outside I need to go coat shopping. I guess it proves they have a very capable HVAC system.

Oh well. Just a ridiculous question!

  1. It's the exact opposite in Canada. In winter, I am sweltering because they overheat all the buildings. In summer, I am comfortable.

  2. That's so true! I guess they are just trying to make there employees confer table!

  3. Yeah. I work with a couple of fat women, and we have it about fifteen below in the office when it's 90 degrees outside. God forbid they sweat for a minute.

  4. People dread the heat so they overcompensate by turning the theromstadt way down in the office.   One time in Little Rock our outside temperature was 111 degrees and when I walked outside the door,  the heat hit me like a hammer.  I virtually was gasping for breath and the temperature inside my car must have been at least 120.   The difference between the office and outside was at least 45 degrees.  So too cold in the office can actually make you feel worse once you leave your work.
