Question:

Why is it so cool to be from "Central" Otago?

I have a colleague who likes to point out at every opportunity that he's actually from CENTRAL Otago, rather than the coastal area where we work.

The thing is though that the coastal area happens to be the urban centre, while Central Otago is really a scenic patch with a few sheep in it.

But he makes it sound like CENTRAL Otago is where it's really at - airports, underground systems, parliament, etc.

Can someone educate me as to why central Otago is the far superior place to be from?

The guy is giving me an inferiority complex.

Cheers.

  1. Actually, he's wrong. 'Tis far, far cooler to be IN Central , rather than from it.

The main feature of Central is the big sky, and I mean HUGE.

Where ever you look, where ever you go, the landscape appears as wilderness.

There's so much to see and do that I suggest you google 'Cromwell'.

There are no parking meters, no traffic lights, no offices (or office hours), no advertising hoardings, no diesel belching trucks, zero humidity and wow---you've got to experience it before you die.
