Why is it so hard for people to believe that the US economy will be strong again?

  1. So you don't think we're in a recession?  On which planet did you say you reside?


  2. It isn't that we do not believe the economy  will never be strong again, just that the fall out from the financial markets is not over. Whether or not we limp along without  an official recession,  unemployment will rise and the economy will be weak for at least another year or more.  

  3. After all, we've never bounced back from slowdowns in the past! We're not even in a recession yet  -- unless it started July 1st. Seriously, though, I think people's memories have been shortened so much by the media's sloppy reporting, that if it didn't happen in the last two years, it didn't happen. Those of us have been through a few recessions do remember them, and how brief they've become lately.

  4. i think most young peole have not ever seen the economy like this before, or they never paid any attention, so now they are not used to this and cant imagine it getting better. but it will. ;)

  5. I agree, we've been through this before and much worse...
